About Foundation-1
Foundation-1 is an energy migration company. Our mission is to power Africa's food supply with the sun.
We build the platform that moves businesses from expensive grid electricity to cheaper, cleaner power, with no capital outlay and savings from the day of the switch. We started in South Africa, where the businesses that feed and employ the country carry some of its heaviest electricity costs.
Why we exist
Electricity prices in South Africa have compounded at double digits for years while the infrastructure that produces cheaper power has become ordinary. What stands between a business and its migration is not technology. It is weeks of paid analysis, repeated by every provider, on every deal, forever.
We believe a migration should be an engineering fact, not a sales pitch: read the bills, verify the numbers, choose the structure the evidence supports, and switch. Our work is making that sequence so reliable that a business can decide with certainty, and a financier can fund the outcome without re-checking it.
What we build
One platform that carries a migration from the first question to verified savings.
The Foundation-1 platform holds each customer's migration as one case of record: the bills, the audited numbers, the approvals and the build, in one place, visible to the customer at every step. Our Machine Intelligence does the reading; people make the decisions.
Because we are not an installer, a financier or a trader, the platform recommends across every structure: solar and storage on site (Eden), cheaper power through the existing grid connection (Awaken), ownership finance (Nightshade), or a blend engineered for the site.

Progressive trust
We ask for more only when the next input creates a more valuable decision for the customer. Nothing moves without their authorization.

Guarded custody
Bills and company documents are commercial information. They are held under the Protection of Personal Information Act and shared only with the parties a customer authorizes.

Impartial by design
Providers sell what they own. Our Machine Intelligence reads the customer's own bills and recommends the structure the evidence supports, whichever that is.
The company
Foundation-1 (Pty) Ltd is a South African company, founded in 2026. The platform, the audit method and the pricing intelligence were built end to end by the founding team. The energy infrastructure our customers switch to is funded and built with established partners; Foundation-1 remains independent of all of them, which is what lets the recommendation stay honest.
